Area description

A region of diverse beauty. Situated between the Alpes Maritimes and the truly azur blue sea. France is the most popular tourist desination in the world and the Provence Cote d’Azur region forms just a small but impressive part. The region enjoys at least 300 days of sunshine every year, has more than 110 kilometres of coastline and beaches, 18 exceptional golf courses, innumerable restaurants from Michelin star to the local pizzeria in the village and also within striking distance of 14 ski resorts.

The region has been a favoured holiday resort since the 18th century but its history can be traced back to Roman times and Nice, Frejus and further north towards Avignon have plenty of Roman ruins to explore.

Set back from the bustle and activities of the coast, lie perched hilltop villages, scattered across the tree covered hills, craggy mountain back drops of the low and high Alps, lakes, streams, gorges and scenery that will take your breath away.

The Medieval villages of the region are certainly worth exploring, each one with its own character, some where time stood still, others embracing their beauty and offering the tourist the best that Provence has to offer. Seillans village, near Fayence, is noted to be one of the « most beautiful villages in France ». Others such as St Paul de Vence or Fayence will not disappoint !

Many of our villas are located in the region of the Canton de Fayence, which comprises of the villages of Montauroux, Callian, Tourrettes, Fayence, Seillans, Bagnols en Forêt and St Paul en Forêt. This is a quieter region, about 20 minutes from the coast, and enjoying a slightly slower pace. But there is certainly no shortage of things to do and see (see our « Activities»). Even a simple walk through the back lanes and alleyways of each of the villages will give you an insight into true Provençal life. Bougainvillea framed doorways, open stone work, cobbled streets, the trinkling of the local fountain or the busy morning market but let us not forget those warm croissants and the smell of fresh French bread first thing in the morning !

The area around Grasse has always been popular as a holiday destination and we will be adding more villas in this region soon. Grasse is known as the World’s Perfume capital and has a rich history, a beautiful old city, museums, galleries and a magnificent Catherdral.

The choice of what to do and where to go is endless. Deciding what to see could be a hard decision. We try to help you decide by giving some ideas on day’s out in our House Book which you will find in your villa.

We hope we have given you some insight into what this beautiful region has to offer but if you need any additional information we trust you will contact us directly – or even better still come and enjoy for yourself………………….See you soon!!
